The
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a
visit to a pediatric dentist for your child by one year
of age.
At Children’s Dentistry we make
the first visit a fun and enjoyable experience. We
believe that if children can have fun while developing
positive dental habits, they will be more likely to have
good oral health for the rest of their lives. During the
first visit you and your child will be introduced to the
office and our experienced dental team.
Children’s
Dentistry offers a well baby oral screening
free of
charge for children under 18 months of age.
You can help
us make your child's first visit to the dentist
enjoyable and positive by refraining from using words
that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle",
"shot", "pull", "drill" or "hurt". Your child will
sense if you are nervous and anxious and will feel the
same way. Our office makes a practice of using words
that convey the same message, but are pleasant and
non-frightening to the child.
We invite you to accompany
your child during the initial examination. This is an
educational visit for the parents and will introduce
your child to our office and dental team. We use this time to educate the parents on a healthy diet,
comprehensive home care, proper tooth development,
effects of oral habits, and answer any questions. The
first visit will typically include a thorough
examination and demonstration of proper home care. It is
important for you to know that we are committed to
creating a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere where your
child feels welcome and where you can have your
questions answered.
We strive to make every visit
to our office a fun experience!
